Internationally renowned Fine Artist
and muralist Kim Fay; at an early age developed a penchant for painting
on the walls of her house, which caused reluctant amusement from
her mother, and this soon developed into a precocious obsession with
various mediums at hand. She considers her education in art more practical than academic,
although she possesses a degree in Fine Art; she began her artistic
journey doing ceiling and wall murals in mansions in Palm Beach
very close to where she painted on the walls of her home as a child.
This opportunity allowed her to finance travels to Europe , where
in her eyes, she could pursue what she considers a true education
in art. In
London she lived a Bohemian lifestyle, sketching in the halls of
the Tate gallery, doing pleine air in Kensington Gardens , studying
in the library at the Royal Academy . She was a stealth academic.
Florence , Cologne , Paris all soon followed, and it was in these
years she truly grew as an artist. After returning to her studio in Florida, a cycle began where
paintings and murals were created for a variety of spaces, including
Delta Airlines, Fairfax Women and Children's Hospital and the America
Society of Telecommunications Industry Solutions in Washington,
DC, in addition to contributing still to the beauty of the private
sector by doing Fine Art and murals in private homes. A connection was made through a designer in West Palm Beach to
do a mural for the Grand Hyatt in Taipei and paintings for the
Regency Lounge at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong , and other corporate
commissions as well as applying her work in private homes throughout
Asia . Kim finds it necessary to continually regenerate her sense of
composition and form and freshness of ideas. To achieve this, she
enters shows such as the National Exhibition of Contemporary American
Paintings at the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach , where
she won 3 awards for her work. She was also profiled in "Juicy
Fruit: Contemporary Citrus Imagery by Florida Artists," held
at The Tampa Museum of Art.
